Art is anything, it is trying to recreate a feeling, or show an emotion. It has brought people together across time and countries. Art has inspired people for centuries, by people looking up to an artist or wanting to do better. It can be their contemporaries or they can inspire people with their ideas centuries later. everyone can look at art differently, they can try to determine the meaning of the art or the emotion that the artist was trying to portray in their work.
Art can also bring people together even if they are not in the same time period. My Grandmother was the person in my family that was a big sewer, she did costumes and made soft sculptures and stuffed animals as a hobby and she was very good at it She died before I really get to know her because I was young and she died suddenly in an auto accident. Because it was so unexpected, she didn't finish some of her sewing projects. I found a little mouse that she had not finished sewing. And I was able to finish, and it became something we did together which was really special to me. It was nice to have a link to someone that I am so similar to, but didn’t really get to know. I can tell a lot about her because of how precise her stitches were and see her creativity in all of her finished projects. When most people see this little animal, they might think it was done with very much skill. That is true because I was still teaching myself how to sew, even though she didn’t teach me herself, this was the closest thing to her sharing her love of sewing with me. For my family and anyone that knows the full story they can see how much feeling and emotion that goes into art and how art can transcend time.
What is Art
What is Design
Design is the lay out of art. it is the scaffolding of what art is built on. The sketch before the painting or the floor plan before the project. Designing a project helps you move from the idea to the reality. It is the next step, to figure out where you are going to take the project. Many projects can start the same way or with the same idea but where they end Completely different.
One of my projects was recreating a painting using news paper. It had the same design as the painting but the design was different. Since you can’t paint with newspaper it makes you have to think about design to recreate the painting in a different medium. You have to design each part differently to make them stand out so it is not just a sea of news print. There were flowers in the dress and it was difficult to get that pattern across with pieces of newspaper. I used the original painting and got a different design and different feel, by using a different design.
Creativity &Knowledge
You can use both knowledge and creativity when you are doing art. You use knowledge to collect different skills, techniques, and arrange different aspects of the craft together. Creativity is coming up ideas to use those skills in different ways to create works of art. You need both creativity and skill/knowledge to be an artist. You may be able to do crafts and recreate other people ideas, but the creativity part is being able to look at other people’s work and ideas and come up with your own ideas.
When I look at my past art, before I had knowledge and only creativity, my ideas didn’t always work out. I was gaining knowledge. As a high school freshman i had my first and only art class until I got to college. one of the projects I remember most was a pen drawing with a watercolor background. I felt like I mess it up, since I had no idea how to get the background right, I tried to blend it a bit with my hands which did not work and you aren`t supped to do that as it ruins the paper. I had no knowledge, only creativity. Creativity and knowledge are the legs that art stands on, you need both.
Is the learn skill of an form of art. It a skill you can always build on and improve all the time. Craft have go down and being passed down to the next generation to every craft is important as people like wall work and design either work or a tool. As crafter and be metal craft and they build spur made tools of high quality or they can be expected painter painting just for funny to build on their skills or any other type of are they are. Crafts can spend years on building their skills.
I like to think my craft is my sewing as I have spent years in it and I know I will spend many more to keep working at it. Sewing is my craft as I look at each new peice as a another challenge to test my skills and do try something new when I get the chance, I put a lot of love and care in what I do. And that is what craft it it the build skills you use to make something like this doll I did I mix my sewing craft work with my stitches/ embroidery work and I use the chain stitches to make it look like a sweater. I can spend hours on one of my dolls as I’m willing to sit and just sew every stitch.
